Preparing For Your Photoshoot
Hello.
We are so glad you're here. We can't wait to capture your family exactly as you are, in photos you'll treasure for years to come.
Scheduling & Weather
We typically schedule outdoor sessions during golden hour, around 7:30pm in June and 3:30pm in November. If you have little ones, try to arrange nap times so they're in good spirits for your session.
We'll meet you at the agreed-upon location at your session time. We don't rely on extended forecasts, if it looks like rain on the day of your session, let's talk about rescheduling. Outside of extended circumstances (family traveling in from out of town, a hurricane, etc.), we don't typically reschedule until the day of the shoot when we can get a look at the radar.
What to Wear
This is one of our most frequently asked questions. The short answer: wear what you love! We wrote a blog about it if you want the longer version.
We don't want everyone to match (ie: solid shirts and khakis for the whole family). Instead, we encourage coordinating, choosing a color palette and weaving those colors throughout. Try working within a color family like earth tones, nautical, or grey/blush/sage. Old Navy often coordinates outfits throughout the store, or browse Pinterest for inspiration. Our strategy: outfit mom first. Once she feels good, build everyone else around her. Mom gets first dibs.
A few more tips:
-
For babies, we recommend rompers over dresses
-
Don't be afraid of color and pattern, accessorize with bows or fun socks
-
Check for proper fit, stains, holes, and wrinkles before you head out
-
Wispy hair or bangs on little ones? A headband goes a long way
What to Bring & What to Avoid
Bring:
-
Your typical on-the-go bag (diapers, spare clothing, snacks)
-
A favorite toy or lovie
-
An activity to make the shoot interactive, if you'd like (a ball, frisbee, bubbles)
-
Bribes (just keep them mess-free and save them for if you really need them)
Avoid:
-
Too much sun exposure before your session
-
Heavily dyed foods or drinks beforehand (we've all seen a blue tongue)
-
Tops that show more skin than you'd want in your photos, think v-necks, sleeveless, midriffs, or mini-skirts that make sitting tricky
-
Pre-shoot snacks right before you arrive, check around little ones' mouths and noses
Pre-Shoot Scan:
-
Teeth are the right color and nothing is lodged between them. Mouth is empty (no gum/candy)
-
Face is free of debris, crumbs, crust
-
Nose & nostrils are free & clear
-
Eye makeup is right, eyes corners are clear

Choosing a Location
We shoot at beautiful locations all around the NH/ME Seacoast. Trust us on locations, even ones that don't look like a postcard often photograph beautifully through our lens thanks to how the light and elements come together. Feel free to browse our social media feeds for ideas. We're also open to your suggestions.
If you're bringing a furry family member, please check that the location allows dogs. All dogs must be leashed, and don't forget the treats, poo bags, and someone to handle your pup during the shoot.
