Preparing For Your Lifestyle Newborn Photoshoot
Hello! We are so glad you're here. Congratulations on welcoming a new little wonder into the world. We can't wait to create images that will adorn your family's albums and walls forever. Here are some quick tips to help you feel prepared for your newborn session.
Our photographer will arrive at your home at your appointment time. Please don't worry about making sure your home is white glove clean (ours aren't!). You will want to clear clutter from the areas that we'll be using for photographs. This will help ensure that the focus of your images is on your baby and your family.
Lifestyle/Fresh 48 Sessions
These newborn sessions have a more organic feel, they take place in your home, hospital, or birthing suite and are aimed at capturing your family just as it was during those moments that are soon forgotten.
The session will take about an hour. During this time we'll take newborn, sibling, and parent shots. Pets are also welcome to participate if they're up for it (newborn safety is our priority, sometimes pets are not yet ready to be photographed with their new little human).
We understand the importance and sentimental value of including older siblings in your newborn's portraits. This is a time of huge transition for the older sibling(s) and some children may not cooperate or be safe enough to get a picture with the baby. We will do our absolute best to make them feel comfortable and to entice them into a photo...we have seen it all and have many tricks up our sleeves ...but each child is unique and in some circumstances it may not be possible.
Getting Ready
Wear whatever feels right to you. These photos are meant to capture who you are, as you are. Wear what you feel good in. These are not posed studio shots. You don't need to match each other or your decor.
We will certainly give you some direction, but the idea behind lifestyle newborn photography is to capture these early days/week together in the environment you were in.
At home, we typically take pictures in the living room, parent bedroom, and nursery - but every family and every home is different, so if those areas don't work in your home, we will work within your comfort zone. Despite what people think, the homes we photograph in are ordinary homes, this is not a session that is reserved for folks with enormous styled homes - it's really for any family who wants to remember the early days, which are often humble beginnings.
Preparing your home doesn't mean making it immaculate, but decreasing clutter will help keep the focus on your family. The last thing we want you to think when you see the pictures is, "I wish I had run the vacuum."
Preparing your family: Ideally your baby will be sleepy, a sleepy newborn is easier to photograph than an active one. Ideally older siblings will be fed and rested at the time of your session.
After Your Session
You'll receive a link to your full gallery within 2 weeks. You'll then have 1 week to purchase prints or digital images, with digital packages starting at $399.
We typically post a "sneak peek" on Facebook within 24 hours (unless you let us know you'd prefer we don't). Feel free to tag yourself or share it to your profile.
